Year Of The Snake

By 12/30/2012 Blog No Comments

For those of you that pay attention to Chinese tradition, the year of the snake will start on Feb 10 of 2013….I know riveting stuff.  Chinese schools of thought talk about the “Four Pillars of Destiny.  A Chinese, Japanese and Korean conceptual term that describes the four components creating a person’s destiny or fate. The four components within the moment of birth are year, month, day, and hour. The four pillars is used alongside fortune telling practices such as Zǐ wēi dòu shù within the realm of Chinese Astrology.”  CrossFit Domo is your fifth pillar of destiny, your pillar of fitness.  This pillar is one which is solely based upon you and your actions.  You make your pillar of fitness what it is.  Neglect the pillar and your foundation will start to crumble.  Nurture and strengthen your pillar and the temple (i.e your body) will thrive.  It is our goal at CrossFit Domo to be the catalyst in strengthening your pillar of fitness.

For those of us that follow the Gregorian Calendar, our new year will start Jan 1 2013….More riveting stuff.  2012 has been an exciting journey for us @ CrossFit Domo.  What started as a front porch & park box has grown into what you see today in our little corner of the universe, Frederick, CO.  We have been asked by numerous athletes “Why did you put your box up here when you live all the way down by Denver?”  The answer to that is long and boring.  One of the main reasons we chose Frederick was the opportunity to build a CrossFit community in an area that was still virgin to CrossFit.  Frederick, CO has exponentially grown in the past decade or so.  The community has become more youthful and vibrant while still holding onto its farming and mining roots.  We are truly excited to be a part of the Carbon Valley.

The athletes that have chosen CrossFit Domo as their strength and conditioning facility have helped mold our box to what it is.  Whether you realize it or not, each and everyone of you has been an instrumental part of this process.  From programming, to class times, to equipment purchases, each athlete has a little part of them built into the box.  The athlete is what makes CrossFit Domo what it is, and for this we couldn’t thank you enough.

Since opening in Frederick we have seen some truly remarkable feats from our athletes.  From our masters (ages withheld for security….or fear for my life) to our athletes who have never trained a day in their life, to out of conditioned athletes getting back into a strength and conditioning program, you all have made me very proud by the hard work and dedication every time you step foot in the box.

As 2012 draws to a close and 2013 is rapidly flung into our lap, I would like to say thank you to all of the people who have made CrossFit Domo a true possibility.  I hope that in 2013 we are able to not only survive in the Carbon Vally, but thrive. For 2013 I say….3~2~1~GO!

A special thanks to ~

Sara ~ For putting up with my neurotic, ADD and temperamental attitude through all this.  Without your support, dedication and patience this would have never happened

Carol ~ Without you this wouldn’t have been nearly as possible

Sharon ~ For giving people motivation by throwing yourself headlong into CrossFit when people in their 20s are still afraid to get off the couch and put down the game controller

Tyler ~ For being super pumped about what we are doing & for helping with the buildout

Our athletes ~ Your motivation, dedication, enthusiasm, honesty, commitment & desire to make yourself and our community a better place.  You are all the pillars in which CrossFit Domo sits on

Happy New Year ~ Now get some chalk on your hands and pick up some heavy %$#!
